Industrial Visit to ICF

Today had a pretty good time at the ICF,Perambur Shell division.30 of us class guys attended the first half of the IV.Well I was among those who "bunked" the second half of the IV.
To start with,we assembled around 9.00am and it was only around 10.15am when we got to enter the factory."HUGE" is the term that comes to my mind when describing the factory. Its basically like a workshop where they assemble and manufacture the railway components.(well what else do u expect in a coach factory). Pretty interesting though we had to walk a long distance inside the factory.Must have knocked off a couple of kilos!!!

Photography was prohibited until I took snaps without getting caught.(u r r8,i like breaking rules).
We exited the factory around 12 thinking of having lunch in the ICF canteen. But compared to it our college food turned out to be better.Seeing is believing,so we decided to have lunch outside.3-4 guys brought their cars,so we stacked up inside them and went to the Hotel Paramount right next to my house! But after that most of us didn't return. Not a sensible person can walk again for IV after having so much for lunch.I would have puked for sure!!!
Heard that only around 15 guys attended the IV again from 1.30pm.It must have been inside some furnishing division and so called "museum".It went on till 4 pm.Just the time I got up from a heavily needed sleep!!!

Something good to share!!!

"Something good to share...."
One day a father of a very affluent family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very deprived family.

On their return from the trip, the father asked his child, "How was the trip?"

"It was great, Dad"

"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.

"Oh yeah," said the young man.

"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.

The lad answered: "I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.
We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.
Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We purchase our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."

The boy's father was speechless.

Then his son added, "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how unfortunate we are"
Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have. Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your near and dear ones! If you pass this page on to friends and acquaintances, they too will hopefully refresh their perception and admiration.

Jaane Tu.....

Well,well,well....Janne Tu Ya Jaane Naa.....I'm still spellbound by its magic.

A bollywood movie comparable to hollywood standards.Well, don't think I'm exaggerating out here.
By hollywood standards I don't mean all the action and special effects sequences.I mean the acting and the music part.A.R.Rahman's music is the highlight of this film. Its a new fare from Rahman and slightly western is his music. Not the typical bollywood fare. The songs are both rocking as well as melodious. This is what i call "melodious-rock".

And the other highlight of this film is the acting part. The actors don't act. They appear so natural that we don't think they are acting. They were actually living out the scenes.Imran Khan(Aamir's nephew) does an excellent job in his debut and not to forget the ever so bubbly Genelia who adds a touch of freshness and youthfulness to the film. Kollywood's gonna miss u Genelia cos I think she won't have time for our tamil films.

The story is the oft repeated one of friends becoming lovers but not realising the same. But the difference of this film lies in its cast. Each character is carefully crafted and do full justice to their role.Be it Naseeruddin Shah as the dead father of Imran or Paresh Rawal as the Inspector.

I would recommend this movie to everyone and its not to be missed.

Final Rating : 4/5

Welcome to the 3rd sem--a new yr begins!!!

Back to college!!! Sounds a bit strange to me as all these years its been like "Back to school" where we would pack up our school bags and lunch boxes waiting for a whole new year--to create nuisance in the school....Still miss those days.

Well, college is no less fun.College starts again tomorrow.Loads of challenges and fun lies ahead. The road ahead has to be traversed carefully!!!

One war ends, another begins!

For those of you who are wondering what I'm talkin about, I haven't become a soldier or something.

The war that just ended was the 1st yr exams that just finished. What a great struggle it was.Crammin things at the last moment, staying awake whole night and forgetting things in the exam hall. This war had all the elements of a great blockbuster movie. For the record I was up till 4.30am for the last exam!

And the other war that's gonna begin now is the war of "BOREDOM".I don't know what I'll do all these days alone in the house.Maybe my 360 will give me company.Of course hanging out is an option but one just can't hang out on all the days! Another good news is that I just now received the copy of GTA IV game for the 360 that i ordered from playasia.com 2 weeks back.I got tensed it didn't come so long but now that it has come it'll keep me good company!

1st yr ends (so soon???)

ya guys, u heard it right! The 1st yr has ended at last.
Done with the last exam. All the xams went fairly well though.

It seemed just like yesterday when the 1st yr had started and we all got initiated into the college and its culture.Days just seemed to fly by with all those CAT xams and boring lectures. All this came to end.I know it'll resume again in a month. But I am sure the holidays will be damn boring.

Time to enjoy for the time being though!!!
ciao!

Me cing IPL Match!

Well, wat a cracker of a contest it was at the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium tonight! Its the first time i got to see a T20 IPL match live in the stadium.Never had such a great experience before. The match was between the Chennai Super kings and Delhi Daredevils.

Apart from the cheerleaders there were loads of other things to cheer.Sivamani on the drums kept entertaining throughout the match. The atmosphere was electric. The crowd feverish. And the game.....well it was sort of one sided with Delhi scoring an easy win.

Today Sehwag proved why he's such a dangerous batsman.Together with Gambhir,he guided Delhi to an easy 8 wicket win over Chennai. They sent the sixes and fours to all corners of the ground.

Final Score:

Chennai Super Kings 169 for 6 (Vidyut 54)

Delhi Daredevils 172 for 2 (Sehwag 71, Gambhir 50)

Result Delhi Daredevils won by 8 wickets (with 6 balls remaining)

Player of the match V Sehwag (Delhi Daredevils)

Rahman blows my mind off!

For those who don't know, here's some thing that'll make u green wid envy.

I attended the Times of India sponsored A.R.Rahman concert! There were more than 50,000 people in attendance. The main reason being that we all got free passes.

It's a gr8 way for the TOI to start their activities in chennai.I'm sure they'll kick Hindu out in a couple of years. The amount of info in the paper makes me glued to it for almost and hour.

Coming back to the concert, well, it blowed me off my feet.Myself along with 8 other college mates set the ground on fire(if not the stage). All the hits of A.R.Rahman over the years were performed by leading singers like Shankar Mahadevan,Hariharan,Naresh Iyer,Madhushri,Chinmayi,Blaaze, etc. Also on the drums was none other than the flamboyant Sivamani.

The show started with a bang with the arrival of rahman on the stage with the song "Thalapathy" from ATM.The response from the audience was deafening. The atmosphere was energetic and the environment frolicking with excitement.

Almost all songs of Jodha Akbar, Guru were sung as well as hit numbers from ATM,Sivaji, vettaiyadu vellaiyadu,Kandukondein,etc.A.R. also sang his UN "Pray for my brother" song.

The "Vande Mataram" song was a fitting finale for the 3.5 hr long concert.

The KarmaYudh Starts

Yes, you guessed it right fellas, the IPL has started. And what a match it was with Kolkata KnightRiders kickin Bangalore Royal Challengers in a grand way.

And the main credit goes to.....well not DADA but a Brendan McCullum with im scorin 75% of the team's runs.Kolkata made 222 in their 20 overs out of which he made in the 150's.It was a gr8 time watching Bangalore getting bundled out for 78.

I'm confident the knight riders will win the IPL hands down.

Lunch @ the Babu's

Well,I had lunch for the 1st time at the Famed "Babu Kadai" adjacent to the college. It turned out going there was simpler than expected.Today the watchman was rather easy on us and allowed us to go thro the gate instead of the preferred wall jumpin route.

The food there is simply marvelous atleast better than the stupid canteen food I am subjected to daily! With egg and chicken curry what more could I ask for.

With the attendance records stopped last week, that meant we could freely bunk or miss classes without missing attendance. We had to skip the English period but who really cares!!!

For those who don't know,Babu Kadai is just another hut where 15 guys can sit .The environment is right next to the killer NH4 highway.sweating and eating is a unique experience(no fans or ac's here)...

What better way to spend time at the Pennalur Penitentiary than the famed Babu kadai.

PS:No Nair kadai for me(I don't puff).

India crush Aussies in VB series

This will perhaps be one of the greatest days in the cricketing history of India. We have crushed the Aussies 2-0 in the finals of the VB Series and have given an apt reply to their taunts.
As its said,"Actions speak louder than words".Now we know who the "obnoxious weed" really is!!!

Praveen Kumar got the man of the match for his 4 wickets.I couldn't stop my laughter watching Mr.Hopes crying in the middle of the pitch after having been caught out.

But i couldn't watch the match live.I had to hear it instead on the AIR as I was in the class.Heard the final overs while coming back in the bus and had a gr8 time. The AIR commentators are so nice that I almost felt right in the middle of the action.

Back 2 Chennai

Now I've returned to Chennai after having a great time at Kanniyakumari and Kovalam the last few days. These were perhaps one of the best days of my life as i got to visit these places along with my parents and my grandparents. And for those who don't remember I incidentally cut my cake at the Taj kovalam hotel on 14th Jan,sunday(yeah!!that's my birthday).

Well,we started on Friday the 12th and reached Kanniyakumari after taking flight till trivandrum and driving down from there.

The next day we saw the sunrise and visited some temples nearby.I don't know why they made us to strip before entering the temples there!!!Men are supposed to go there bare chested before entering the temples. All u guys out there BAD LUCK cos the rule applies only for the MEN!!!

Then we also visited PadmanabhaPuram palace which was once occupied by Raja Ravi Verma.

Its an awesome architectural marvel.(Made me feel like King). Snapped quite a lot fotos there and then after that spent some time at the Swami Vivekanda kendra where a wonderful panel on his life was put up.

After all these we had a long journey back to Kovalam.More awaited me there. Its a wonderful place with the beautiful beach and the foreigners of course!

The Taj Cove hotel resort is the best I've stayed in till date. Its got a unique style and environment.Feels right in the middle of an Amazon rainforest. It also got its private beach gym and everything one can imagine.

I tried my hand in archery as well and it turned out that i may have been an "arjuna" in my past!!!The Kovalam beach nearby was damn cool n hot as well!!!I witnessed the magnificent sunset.

All good things come to an end and so did this.Or i must say "All good things keep continuing" as far as I'm concerned! We returned to chennai on tuesday after 4 gr8 unforgettable rockin days!
